Things to Do in the New Year

Here I am back on the web after an eventful Xmas. Xmas day I received 'The Sims' Deluxe Edition. My youngest brother Jeffrey and I played it straight till tonight, when he decided he needed sleep before work tomorrow. (What a wimp!) Actually, I might get some sleep too tonight. I want to return to study tomorrow. Maybe if I approach life as if it were a role playing game I might get more successful at it. (I know, you are wondering, "What do you mean by that?" Ever played a Role Playing game (example AD & D, Aftermath, Traveller etc) and found that it was unrealistic, because you could just treat your character as though they have no social life? You get them to just do things to train them and bring up their stats. Well, if you have, then you know what I am talking about. Otherwise I might sound a bit crazy. Or is that Crazier!) Well, in "The Sims" the characters need a social life, so they are a lot different to Role Playing characters and more realistic to real life. Getting back to the point I was going to say. At present I have some time on my hands (when I say some, I never seem to be able to find enough of it. So really I have none), but I thought, this time in my life, is a good time to get lot of unfinished projects finished. (Actually, I hate NOT having unfinished projects around, because when I have them, I feel I have something to look forward to doing ... or avoiding in some cases). Of course, first on the list is that darn elusive Novel I am still writing. Only I thought, let's give up playing computer games (after 3 days straight and little to no sleep, "The Sims" is starting to wear a bit thin. So being sick of playing games might be a good thing) So, I might write a BIG list of unfinished projects, and then select things to concentrate on doing, and doing well. (and getting my skill sets up in them). So, making my own little list of things I have to finish doing, might be nice. I think I might start it off here: 1/ That darn elusive NOVEL! 2/ Japanese 3/ CCNA 4/ Paintings (I have a few which are like, 90% finished ... and have been that way for ... about a year or more!) 5/ Diet 6/ Fitness. (I chuck the diet and fitness in as I think it might be better to look at them as an on going project which never ends!) lol Of course, the MAIN philosophy behind this idea (in order to make it work), is that when the FUN is reduced in life to zip, you get cranky etc. So in order to make it fun, you think of the list of self improvement ideas in the same way as you might think of the list of stats on your role playing character. So it BECOMES the game. (I think a lot of Stock market guru's are good at their jobs, because they ENJOY making money. It is like a game to them. So by making self improvement a game, hopefully I will get some fun out of it, while avoiding doing anything that may distract me. Like playing computer games ... which are fun!) lol Other news, a Tsunami has hit many places in the Indian ocean. At present, I am worried, as I have many friends in Penang who I have not heard from. Also, one of my friends went to the Maldives for a holiday, and the news tonight said a lot of the tourists were out on Coral Atolls which were just swamped under the water! (My friend in the Maldives is from India. I am wondering if there was a way for her to avoid this disaster. If she stayed home, she would have been hit ... going on holiday had the same result.) Actually, she was probably in a worse area than if she stayed home. At least in India she may have been in a part unaffected by the Tsunami. I'm not sure if they are sensationalising things on TV now, because they are saying 29,030 people are confirmed dead, and 30,000 more are missing. With the possibility of more people they didn't know about being missing. They reported tonight a tourist spot which they hadn't previously counted, as the road to it had been washed away. Now they have got through to the resort, and found everyone there had died. Some because they couldn't get aid to them, as they didn't even now the location had been affected. I guess that's all for now. The New Year is coming up soon, so my mother will be starting her diet ... again ... and so will my youngest brother. I must be the only person in the family on a diet for allergy reasons and NOT weight loss reasons!

Night Before Xmas

Yep! It's the night before Xmas. I signed up for a MUD today. Just because I've never played one before, and spent a lot of the day working out how it all works. My nose is still very tender on the end. But otherwise breathing is rather normal. As long as I do not touch it, it will be fine .. I hope! hee hee. A friend of mine was going a bit berserk on Yahoo, asking me if I wanted to see a pic of her naked and some other things. She admitted she liked me and stuff. Rather weird, because she seemed totally drunk and her spelling was really bad. The poor thing. I wonder what set her off. OH well, hopefully she is Okay today. I will try and see if she is Okay, but I have no way oh ensuring she will answer her yahoo. Not really much to report. Might return to doing some painting tonight. Tomorrow is Xmas day. Not really doing much except playing games with my youngest brother and mother. Probably Cluedo and Scrabble, with possibly Star Traders thrown in for good measure. Merry Xmas everyone. Happy New Year if I do not see you before then.

Post Nose Operation

Well, I woke up this morning, and found I was able to breathe through my left nostril. A big bonus after breathing through the mouth for so long. I regained the ability to breathe through the right nostril a few days ago. So, now both nostrils are available, but still, I don't have 100% in either yet. So the mouth still get used a lot for air. Spent yesterday working on my Science Fiction (SF) novel. Ran into a bit of a block, so went to work on some of my poerty, then stopped. Then was writing the third part in my Rock Band Trilogy of screen plays. Still haven't written the first one, so a long way to go there. Second one was finished in November last year. Hard to believe I haven't finished a screen play since then. Funny thing is, I finished two in November 2003. So starting on the third one this month was something I hadn't done for a long while. I guess I was very busy studying earlier for the Computer Science Degree. That will start again soon. Since last writing, my beloved Linux box has died a dogs death. R.I.P. Little Linux box. The Hard Drive controller has gone on it, and it's such an old Compaq machine, I doubt I will ever find a replacement part. I arrived in Perth a year and a half ago with six computers. Now I am down to three. Very sad. Everything breaks. I spent the weekend putting one of the other boxes back together and trying to get my Linux hard drive to work on another one of the machines I have. Sad, but it is too advanced for either of the old Pentiums I own, and the XP machine just doesn't like the linux drive. When I can afford it, I'll have to get another machine and stick Linux on it myself. It means, when I do my University work next semester, I will be doing it by telneting into the University computer. I'm loosing a bit of weight, because all I've had to live off is rice and water at the moment. Money has been scarce due to my Doctor's bills. In fact, twice this month, I received $38 fee's from my bank for being overdrawn. I have asked in the past and once again via e-mail yesterday to see if some credit can be placed on the account. That way, I only need to pay the interest on the amount overdrawn, rather than the fee. I've paid over $200 in fees this year. Guess that's what makes being a starving artist so exciting. If it was easy, then they wouldn't call us "starving artists", they'd call us, fat artists, or rich artist ... or fat rich artist. Oh, well. Three days till my friend Lillian's Birthday, and four till Xmas. I guess I better get back to the writing. The sooner I finish something, the soooner I have something to sell. Then once I sell it, I can eat. WOO HOO! Food here I come!

First Post

Well, here is the first post of my new Blog. What did I do today? Well, just painting. More fantasy stuff. I love fantasy and Science Fiction art. It's a good thing to paint. I read 'Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' when I was still in school, and have never looked back. At present, I like to read Terry Pratchet's Discworld Novels. I think they are very clever. I need to spend more time writing though. I have to get my novel finished, so I can send it to the publishers. Nothing worse than not completing a project on time and starving because of it. Well, I've been relaxing all week, due to getting my nose fixed. I have broken my nose four times (five counting the Doctor fixing it). First time I was hit in the face by a door. I was trying to do a good deed for someone, and somehow, the door missed my feet and hit my nose. Must be a big nose! hee hee. Second time was at Karate. We were doing combat, and one of the five people chosen to attack me didn't bow first. As I came up from my bow, I was hit in the face. Third time was playing hockey. Stick to the face. Lots of fun. Blood everywhere. Only problem was, I got hit by my team mate, and the other team scored. Everyone on the sidelines told a guy on the other team it was him, so he kept apologising to me. I kept telling him it wasn't him. In the end, I got tired of trying to tell him, so I told him it wasn't a problem ... all was forgiven. lol Some people just won't accept they're not to blame! Fourth time was playing American Football. My flatmate at the time hit me with his shoulder. BANG! Blood everywhere. Hee hee. He felt really bad, but I was fine. So, now the Doctor has broken it to try to fix the inside. The outside still looks the same. I just can't breathe through my nose at present. Difficult at night when I am trying to sleep though. Always waking up with a very dry mouth, or needing to pee, because I drink so much. All that breathing through the mouth makes me thirsty. Well, at present I have a few projects on the way. Novels: a.Science Fiction. b.Dramatic (ie Literature type thing, partially biographical). Art: a.Fantasy. b.Nudes. c.Science Fiction. d.Modern. Movies: a.Fantasy (ten parts ... anyone want to make them?) b.a Trilogy about a rock band. c.Some Science Fiction as well on the way. Studying: a.CCNA. b.Computer Science Degree. Should finish CCNA soon and start on CCNP. (CCNA & CCNP are Cicso Networking Certifications). Music: In Hiatus at present. Not writing, entering contests, or playing in any bands. Might start recording later on. Need more time to devote to this. Study and Writing are taking first priority). I guess that's all for my first Blog. Will write more when more happens I guess.
